The Logo Design and Branding Process

If you’re thinking of working with us, rest assured at Studio Whitby we believe in making our design projects as easy and as simple as possible for our clients. The work carried out is always made clear, there’s no hidden costs and we keep you updated as the project progresses. While every project is different, I’ve outlined an average logo design and branding job below - from first contact to final design so that you can get an idea of how we work.

Stage One
To start, we will ask you to provide a design brief, over the phone, online or by calling into the Studio. Don’t worry if you don’t have many ideas, it’s just to get a general idea of what you require and allows us to get a better understanding of the work involved, enabling us to give you the most competitive quote.

Stage Two
Once you are happy with our quote and have agreed on the cost of the job, we will usually require a 30% deposit along with any agreed content.

Stage Three
We will then begin the design process, which starts with a detailed research and discovery stage that allows us to better understand your position in the market and your customers or clients expectations. Once we have three distinct logo or brand options together we send across a proof file (usually PDF) via Email. This allows you time to fully look over the designs and choose the concept you feel best suits your business, we also highlight the design we feel would work best and explain how it meets the needs set out in stage one. Depending on the size and scope of the project stage three can take from 2-3 days to several weeks. Timescales and deadlines will usually be agreed beforehand and we keep you up-to date on how it is progressing and the work we are doing.

Stage Four
After a logo or brand concept has been agreed on we progress the design to a finished graphic and supply a final design proof which can be tweaked until you are completely happy. Because we have taken the time at the start of the project to get a full understanding of what is required - this stage rarely takes more than 1 or 2 amendments and often no changes at all.

Stage Five
Once the final design is agreed and signed off we supply a logo file pack which includes all common formats and font files. We also supply a logo style document which details colours, fonts and placement, and enables publishers, designers or agencies to easily access your logo files and brand style - effectively promoting brand consistency.
